A man who was shot and killed outside a bar in South Gate was identified Saturday by county authorities.
Diego Chavoya Zuniga, 23, was identified as the victim of the shooting by the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner.
The shooting was reported about 3 a.m. Thursday outside the entrance to Auggie’s Bar & Grill at 5810 Imperial Highway, according to the South Gate Police Department.
Chavoya Zuniga was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics.
A South Gate PD watch commander said a person of interest was detained in connection with the shooting.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives were summoned and will take charge of the investigation, the lieutenant said.
