THE BULK OF THE HEAVY RAIN IS NOW SLIDING TO THE SOUTH AND EAST, AWAY FROM THE AREAS WHERE WE DID HAVE SOME FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS HERE AROUND CENTRAL OKLAHOMA EARLIER THIS MORNING BECAUSE OF 4 TO 6IN OF RAIN ESTIMATED ON RADAR. NOW YOU STILL SEE SOME LIGHT SHOWER ACTIVITY CONTINUING WITH THE CLOUD COVER. SO THAT WILL HELP KEEP TEMPERATURES IN CHECK TODAY, MAKING IT OUT OF THE MID 70S. HERE’S SOME OF THE LOOK AT THE SOME OF THE RAINFALL TOTALS HERE. RADAR RAINFALL RADAR ESTIMATE AND FIVE INCHES OF RAIN A LITTLE OVER THAT JUST SOUTH OF LAKE THUNDERBIRD DOWN NEAR ETOWAH AND 6.3. THAT’S THE MOST I CAN FIND ON THAT WAS SOUTHWEST AND JUST EAST OF CHICKASHA. SO YEAH, GRADY COUNTY GETTING SOME INCREDIBLE RAIN 2 TO 3IN WIDESPREAD HERE ACROSS CENTRAL OKLAHOMA. AND WE HAD SOME HEAVY RAIN ACROSS NORTHERN PARTS OF THE STATE WHERE SUPERCELL IMPACTED NORTHERN OKLAHOMA LAST EVENING WITH SOME DAMAGING WINDS. UNFORTUNATELY TOOK OUT SOME POWER AS WELL. WE HAD MULTIPLE THOUSANDS OF CUSTOMERS WITHOUT POWER HERE THIS MORNING DUE TO THE WINDS WITH THOSE STORMS, 68 DEGREES HERE IN OKLAHOMA CITY RIGHT NOW. VERY CLOUDY, OVERCAST. AND THAT, LIKE I SAID, IS GOING TO KEEP THOSE TEMPERATURES DOWN IN THE MID 70S TODAY WITH ONLY A 20% CHANCE OF RAIN. TEMPERATURES AT THE MOMENT IN THE 60S AND LOW 70S, IF YOU’RE HEADED OUT THE DOOR. BUT YEAH, NOT NOT GOING TO HIT THOSE NORMAL HIGHS TODAY. NORMAL HIGHS AROUND 87 WILL BE UP TO 76 TODAY. AND SOME MORE RAIN CHANCES. STORM CHANCES ON THE WAY THAT’S COMING UP. ALL RIGHT. HAPPENING RIGHT NOW. WE’RE TAKING A LIVE LOOK AT THIS SEMI CRASHED OUT ON I-44 IN LAKE HEFNER PARKWAY. WE’RE NOT SURE IF THERE ARE ANY INJURIES. WE HAVE REPORTED ON SEVERAL ACCIDENTS AT THIS SAME SPOT OVER THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS. DAKOTA, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT GETS SLICK OUT THERE, JUST SEEMS LIKE THIS IS AN ISSUE. ABSOLUTELY. AND WE’RE GOING TO CONTINUE FOLLOWING THAT. HEY, LISTEN TO THIS. YESTERDAY’S STORMS CAUSED ROAD CLOSURES IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT SPOTS THROUGHOUT OKLAHOMA. THREE MILES OF POWER LINES DOWN ON ONE HIGHWAY IN KAY COUNTY CAUSING MAJOR ISSUES. LOOK AT THAT. THAT IS A POWER LINE THERE DOWN SO U.S. HIGHWAY 177 WAS CLOSED AS CREWS CLEANED UP. OUR STORM CHASERS ALSO CONFIRMED THE DAMAGE WAS THERE AT THE 101 WILD WEST RODEO IN PONCA CITY. THAT’S A VERY POPULAR DEAL THERE. WE EVEN SAW SOME STRUCTURES DAMAGED AS WELL. THEN IN NOBLE COUNTY, POWER LINES FELL AND SHUT DOWN SOUTH HIGHWAY 156 NEAR MARLIN. THAT AREA WAS CLOSED BETWEEN COUNTY ROADS 170 AND 180, BUT THAT IS NOW OPEN. WELL, THE FINAL MINUTES OF LAST NIGHT’S GAME FOR KNICKS FANS IN NEW YORK CITY WAS SOMETHING THEY WILL NEVER FORGET. AND THAT WAS RIGHT HERE ON KOCO 5. OF COURSE, WE REMEMBER OUR CELEBRATIONS ONE YEAR AGO. I KNOW. YEAH, AND THAT ONE AROUND ERUPTED IN NEW YORK AS THEY SECURED THEIR FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP IN 50 YEARS. AND OVERNIGHT THEY TOOK TO THE STREETS. THAT’S MOMENTS RIGHT THERE ON THE SCREEN AS THEY WON THAT GAME. AND OF COURSE, THE WORLD EXPECTED NEW YORK FANS TO FILL THE STREETS. AND THEY MOST CERTAINLY DID THAT. THEY WERE JUMPING ALL AROUND, CLIMBING STREET POLES. IT WAS QUITE EXCITING. EVEN YOU WOULD OBVIOUSLY DOUBT THIS, BUT SOME POLICE OFFICERS DID HAVE TO TAKE A FEW OF THEM AWAY. HOPEFULLY EVERYBODY’S SAFE THERE. WELL, NEW THIS MORNING, THE CENTER FOR DISEASE CONTROL OR CDC, IS LAUNCHING AN EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER RESPONDING TO NEW WORLD SCREWWORM CONCERNS. THIS IS A STORY WE’RE FOLLOWING VERY CLOSELY. THE FLIES LAY EGGS IN THE TISSUE OF LIVESTOCK AND PETS, AND THE LARVAE BURROW DEEP FURTHER INTO THE FLESH, CREATING SOMETIMES DEADLY WOUNDS. THEY WERE ERADICATED FROM THE UNITED STATES BACK IN THE DAY, BUT NOW THEY’RE BACK. AND OVER THE LAST 30 DAYS, THE USDA SAYS THEY’VE FOUND 12 CASES OF SCREWWORM ACROSS TEXAS AND NEW MEXICO. WELL, OKLAHOMA VETERINARIANS SAY THE STATE SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO IF THEY COME HERE. OKLAHOMA HAS BEEN PREPARING FOR AN INCURSION FOR FOR A VERY LONG TIME AT THIS POINT, AND WE’RE POISED WE’RE WE’RE POISED TO RESPOND. As we celebrated the Oklahoma City Thunder’s championship during the 30th Anniversary year of the April 19, 1995, bombing, today we honor our friends, the New York Knicks on their championship during the 25th Anniversary year of the September 11 attacks,” officials wrote in a social media post Sunday.Officials said the two cities have worked together on many projects over the years, including when New York Task Force 1 stood with Oklahoma City “in our darkest hour in 1995” and that the city responded to Ground Zero in 2001.“In 2020, during the 25th Anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, the OKC National Memorial & Museum and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum joined forces at Madison Square Garden to discuss memory and education on center court as we exchanged jerseys. Beginning tomorrow, we will display that jersey in our Archives Exhibit.This Knicks T-shirt was left on the Fence by the team during one of their visits to Oklahoma City to play the Thunder. It has been on display in the Museum as a symbol of the enduring connection between our two cities,” officials wrote.Officials said they celebrate the “resilience of two cities torn apart by terrorism and how sports and honoring the memory of those who were killed, those who survived and those changed forever will always unite our cities.”“Two back-to-back Champions…Hope Wins!” officials wrote in the social media post.
