PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) – Jacksonville State announced today that Travis Creel will be the new head coach of the Gamecock baseball program.
Creel has had seven successful seasons at USM, serving as recruiting coordinator, hitting coach and infield coach. Before becoming a coach, Creel attended USM and was a two-time team captain. He was also a member of the Golden Eagles’ 2009 College World Series team.
“I am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead the Jax State baseball program,” Creel said. “This is a program with a proud tradition, outstanding facilities, tremendous support and a clear commitment to winning at the highest level. My family and I are excited to become part of the Jax State community.”
Along with Southern Miss, Creel also has coached at Louisiana Tech and Jones College.
Creel is the sixth head coach in Jax State baseball history.
