“Ensuring the safety of fans, staff, volunteers and emergency services personnel remains top priority for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Houston Host Committee,” the organizers said in a statement.
Fan Fest, a gathering spot for fans to watch games as the city hosts seven matches through July 4, spans a multiple-block stretch in EaDo south of Shell Energy Stadium. Roughly 15,000 people are expected to visit the spot daily. On Thursday’s opening day of the World Cup, Fan Fest reached its capacity of 7,500 in the early afternoon.
