NASCAR officially announced on Wednesday that it would be coming to San Diego in 2026, bringing three days of races from June 19th through June 21st featuring stars of the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series in a street race at Naval Base Coronado. This is being billed as one of the biggest sporting events to ever come to San Diego. On Wednesday morning, El Cajon’s Jimmie Johnson met with the media to discuss his excitement about NASCAR coming to his hometown as well as whether or not he’d be interested in racing.
