A 13-year-old racer thrashed NASCAR Cup Series racer Shane van Gisbergen in a race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Van Gisbergen has recently begun racing full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series after racing in the Xfinity Series throughout 2024, and is still trying to get used to the oval races.

However, Keelan Harvick, son of 2014 Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick, is 23 years Van Gisbergen’s junior, and has also only recently started racing professionally, and he romped home to take the SummerShootout Legend Car Pro feature race win ahead of Van Gisbergen.
Harvick has been making a name for himself in recent months, having beaten his father at the Cook Out Summer Shootout’s Night of Games, his second win over Kevin this year.
While Harvick senior is retired from full-time stock car racing at the ripe old age of 49, these results are mightily impressive for the 13-year-old racing prodigy.
Kevin Harvick proud of racing prodigy son
Speaking following Harvick’s victory over his father earlier this month, Harvick Sr. said: “It was the first time I’ve watched him in the car – because I got to race behind him pretty much all day – it’s the first time I’ve watched him in the car and I was like, ‘he’s confident’.
“He knows how wide his car is, he’s comfortable sliding the car round, his side-by-side was…they’re close enough, right there. He felt comfortable driving the car in the corner. Man, we raced in front of a capacity crown, like 7,000 people.”
