New York City will celebrate the Knicks’ first NBA championship in 53 years with a ticker-tape parade and City Hall ceremony today.
The Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 on Saturday night to win the NBA Finals in five games.

2. Teenager dies after being thrown from horse-drawn carriage in Central Park
A teenager thrown to the ground yesterday when a Central Park carriage horse bolted away from its driver has died, according to police.
The 18-year-old was riding in the horse-drawn carriage with three other passengers when the accident happened just before 3 p.m., according to the New York Police Department. At least two passengers were sent flying out of the careening cab.
3. More than 77,000 New Yorkers cast ballots in first five days of early voting
By the end of the day yesterday, more than 77,000 New Yorkers had cast their ballots across the five boroughs through the first five days of early voting, according to the city’s Board of Elections.
Manhattan led the turnout, with a total of 32,738 ballots cast in the borough so far. Brooklyn follows with 21,675, then Queens with 14,530, the Bronx with 7,262 and Staten Island with 1,625.
