HOUSTON – Fire crews estimate around 40 people have been displaced after a fire broke out at a southeast Houston apartment complex Wednesday evening.
It happened in the 7900 block of Morley Street.
Houston Firefighters say they were called around 7 p.m. and arrived to find smoke pouring from one of the buildings. Within 10 minutes, the fire had spread to the attic and ultimately burned the roof of the building.
The heat from the fire caused problems with two firefighters and two civilians suffering from heat exhaustion. They were all treated at the scene and no one was transported to hospitals.
Officials say six apartment units were directly affected by the fire. 16 in total are without power.
Crews are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
The Red Cross has been notified to help assist those displaced.
