PHOENIX (AZFamily) — If you’re making Father’s Day plans around the Valley, budget extra time to get there.
Several freeways in Phoenix and the East Valley will be closed or restricted for the holiday weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).
Phoenix
Northbound state Route 51 will be closed between Indian School Road and Interstate 10 from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement work.
All I-10 and Loop 202 ramps to northbound SR 51 will be closed during that time.
Drivers are asked to use alternate routes such as Interstate 17 or city streets, including 16th, 24th and 32nd streets.
East Valley
In Chandler, eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) will be closed between Price Road and Arizona Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project.
The southbound Loop 101 ramps to eastbound Loop 202 will be closed, along with the eastbound Loop 202 on-ramps at Price and Dobson roads.
In Scottsdale, northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) will be shut down between Shea Boulevard and Princess Drive from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement work.
The northbound on-ramps at 90th Street and Via de Ventura will also be closed.
ADOT recommends drivers exit ahead of the closure and use northbound Scottsdale Road to reconnect with Loop 101.
In Tempe, the westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) ramps to northbound and southbound Loop 101 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement work.
The eastbound Loop 202 ramp to northbound Loop 101 will be closed as well.
Drivers should exit Loop 202 before the ramp closures and follow posted detours to connect with Loop 101.
