The 44th annual Mermaid Parade will make a splash in Coney Island this weekend. Glitter, fishnets and other creative costumes will hit the boardwalk Saturday afternoon.

A financial setback had actually threatened the festivities earlier this year. Organizers thought they may have had to cancel the parade. However, a financial boost came in to save the fun.

Adam Rinn, artistic director of Coney Island USA, which hosts the parade, joined “The Rush Hour” on Friday to talk about this year’s festivities.
