PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man accused of causing a wrong-way crash on Interstate 10 in Phoenix in March has been arrested.
Angel Omar Molina Sandoval, 25, was arrested on June 19 after being released from a long-term medical rehabilitation facility for injuries he suffered in the crash, which happened on March 1.
Video from inside Sandoval’s car shows him making a U-turn on I-10 and driving into oncoming traffic. Seconds later, he crashes head-on into another vehicle.
Both drivers suffered critical injuries.
Troopers with the Arizona Department of Public Safety said Sandoval had just left a club in Phoenix before driving onto I-17 to the I-10 split. That’s when Sandoval crossed multiple lanes, stopped in the HOV lane, made a U-turn and drove into oncoming traffic, DPS officials said.
Sandoval was booked into the Maricopa County Jail after his arrest and faces aggravated assault and DUI charges, DPS officials said. He is being held without bond.
