An even hotter day is expected statewide. High temperatures in many locations will reach the 100s, and for some, this will be the first time this year. Expect abundant sunshine today along with the heat. A chance of showers and thunderstorms returns late Friday through Sunday, mainly in areas east of I-35 and along the coastal plains. This is due to tropical moisture moving in as high pressure shifts northward over the weekend.
