SAN ANTONIO – When Paul McCartney steps onto the Alamodome stage in San Antonio on October 25, it won’t just be a concert — it’ll feel more like a pilgrimage for many concertgoers. A cross-generational celebration of a living legend, whose songs still echo with love, memory, and the timeless power of music that truly means something.

This marks the first time McCartney has performed in San Antonio since a 2014 benefit concert to open the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.

At 83, McCartney continues to tour internationally at a pace few of his contemporaries match. The Got Back tour, which began in 2022 with a run of U.S. dates, has since traveled through Latin America, Europe, and Australia. Last year alone, he performed more than 20 shows across multiple continents.

Each night, he draws from a repertoire that spans six decades — from Beatles staples like “Hey Jude” and “Let It Be” to Wings-era hits like “Band on the Run” and “Live and Let Die,” alongside selections from his solo catalog.

In recent years, McCartney’s live performances have been celebrated as both nostalgic and surprisingly vital. Billboard called the shows “a bit of a religious experience,” while Rolling Stone praised the singer’s “boyish energy” and described the concerts as “a joyful explosion.” NPR wrote that McCartney’s performance style remains “funny and fun,” noting the effortless quality of his musicianship.

Accompanying McCartney on the Got Back tour is his longtime band, featuring Paul “Wix” Wickens on keyboards, Brian Ray on bass and guitar, Rusty Anderson on guitar, and Abe Laboriel.
