PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Sunny with a high of 105 degrees today in the Valley, as the Valley and state begin a warm-up that peaks over the weekend.
Look for high pressure to strengthen and build westward toward Arizona over the next few days, bringing hotter temperatures. The Valley will climb to 107 degrees on Friday and Saturday, and to nearly 110 degrees on both Sunday and Monday.
Drier air has been pushing into Arizona and will continue to erode our monsoon moisture today. That weather pattern continues through the weekend, minimizing storm activity just about statewide. A stray shower or two is possible in the White Mountains, but just about all other parts of Arizona look to stay dry from today through the weekend.
Monsoon moisture is forecast to return early next week, first across the higher elevations of the state, then in the deserts. Valley rain chances start Monday night and continue through midweek. This will also bring high temperatures back below 110 degrees starting Tuesday.
