A child died Thursday morning after they were pulled out of a burning Fort Worth home, where they and six others were trapped inside, firefighters said.
The fire was reported at 3:05 a.m. in the 4200 block of McCart Avenue, said Craig Trojacek, a spokesman for the Fort Worth Fire Department.
While on their way to the fire, Trojacek said firefighters learned several people were possibly trapped inside the home.
Trojacek said firefighters saw heavy fire at the front and side of the home as they arrived.
Before firefighters could get to the scene, bystanders got two people out, Trojacek said. Firefighters pulled two victims out of the home, one a school-aged child who died at the scene, he said.
Seven people, including the child who died, were in the home. Trojacek said three children were taken to hospitals with injuries while another child and two adults were uninjured.
A bystander was also injured during the fire, but Trojacek said he was not taken to a hospital by the fire department.
As protocol, Trojacek said arson investigators were on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
