When two-year-old Otto met Russell the crow, sparks flew—literally. Found injured near Otto’s Danish home, Russell was nursed back to health by the family. Instead of flying off, he chose to stick around.
The Beginning of an Unlikely Friendship
From day one, Russell zeroed in on Otto. The crow would swoop down whenever the boy played outside, dropping pebbles at his feet. Every afternoon, Russell waited on the roof, car, or windowsill as Otto came home from preschool. Sometimes he even followed Otto indoors, hopping onto the couch or perching right on the boy. That bond was exclusive—Russell trusted only Otto.

Otto’s mother shared their story on TikTok and Instagram, and millions tuned in, marveling at the crow’s startling loyalty and emotional intelligence.
This is the sweetest friendship ever—little Otto and his best buddy, Russell the crow! Their bond is such a beautiful reminder that friendship knows no boundaries.

A Bird Much Smarter Than You’d Think
Crows rank among our planet’s most intelligent creatures. They solve puzzles, use tools, and boast incredible memories. But what really stands out is their capacity for connection. They learn human faces, recall kindness, and can be playful or protective.
Now, over a year later, Russell has rejoined a wild flock. He won’t let anyone touch him, but he still drops by Otto’s home—proof that some friendships truly know no bounds.
