KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The juvenile alligator reported at Longview Lake has been captured, and officials say there is no longer a public safety concern.
Jackson County Parks said park rangers and Kansas City Animal Control spent the afternoon searching the area.
A fisherman spotted the alligator, dubbed ‘Longview Lou’ by locals, and pointed crews to its location, allowing the animal to be safely removed.
The alligator is now in the care of Kansas City Animal Control.
Officials said it will be held for a short period while they work to determine whether it has an owner.
Jackson County Parks thanked the public for its cooperation and credited the fisherman for helping crews locate the reptile.
