The New York Jets have announced on Thursday morning the injury diagnosis for Justin Fields.
Fields, the team’s offseason quarterback acquisition, was reportedly carted off of the field at training camp practice on Thursday morning. The former Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback reportedly suffered a lower-leg injury. He was carted off of the field, though he was able to walk into the locker room under his own power.
Jets fans are understandably worried about status of their starting quarterback. However, it sounds like the Jets might have avoided the worst when it comes to Fields’ injury.
Head coach Aaron Glenn updated reporters on Fields’ status on Thursday morning.

The New York Jets head coach told reporters that Fields is believed to have suffered a toe injury. While that can be serious, it’s much better than a knee injury.
A toe injury is the initial diagnosis for Fields, though the Jets are still waiting for an official diagnosis.
“Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has said that the preliminary belief on Justin Fields is that he sustained a toe injury. The team is still waiting for further evaluation,” NFL insider Josina Anderson shared on social media.
It’s believed that someone stepped on Fields’ foot, causing the injury. If that’s the case, the Jets likely avoided something really serious. Of course, it’s possible that Fields suffered a fractured toe injury, which could still sideline him for a while.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport added: “Justin Fields, who left today’s training camp practice on a cart after suffering a lower leg injury, is dealing with a toe injury, per coach Aaron Glenn. Glenn indicated that, by the way the play unfolded, he believes someone stepped on Fields’ foot.”
An official diagnosis for Fields’ injury should come following his X-ray on Thursday morning. The Jets are hoping for the best.
