Several streets in downtown Chicago are set to shut down over the next few days as set up for the annual Taste of Chicago festival begins, officials announced on Sunday.
Starting at 6 a.m. on June 29, a closure of the curb lane of South Columbus Drive from East Monroe Drive to East Balbo Drive will go into effect.
A full closure of South Columbus Drive from East Monroe Drive to East Balbo Drive and of East Ida B. Wells Drive from South Columbus Drive to the South Congress Plaza Drive semi-circle starts at 6 a.m. on July 2.
The last round of closures starts at 6 a.m. on July 5, shutting down East Jackson Drive from Michigan Avenue to DuSable Lake Shore Drive and South Columbus Drive from East Balbo Drive to East Roosevelt Road.
Taste of Chicago will take over the Grant Park from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on July 8 through July 12.
The streets will reopen the day after the festival ends on July 13.
This year is the first in a few that the festival will be held in July after moving to the later summer to accommodate the NASCAR Chicago Street Race.
