More than a million people gathered on Chicago’s North Side to watch the dazzling annual Chicago Pride Parade on Sunday, marking the 55th year in a row for the rainbow-filled celebration of love.
The parade — that features around 150 colorful floats, entertainment and live performances — stepped off at 11 a.m. near Sheridan and Broadway.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker was seen waving to cheering spectators during the parade alongside his wife.
The two-mile route moves south on Broadway before turning onto Halsted, then heads east on Belmont, back to Broadway, then south to Diversey, and ends at Cannon Drive.
Spanning four neighborhoods, the parade features around 150 colorful floats, entertainment and live performances.
Viewing areas begin at Grace Street and crowds are expected to line Broadway and Halsted, though the most popular viewing areas are typically between Belmont and Addison on Halsted.
Those looking for a less crowded place to settle in should head to Broadway between Belmont and Oakdale, or on Belmont between Halsted and Broadway.
For those looking to join in without dealing with the crowds, NBC Chicago and Telemundo Chicago are offering a way to join in on the fun from home.
Both NBC Chicago and Telemundo Chicago will offer a live feed of the celebrations starting at 11:20 a.m. and continuing until 2:30 p.m.
The non-cutaway feed of the festive event will be streamed from elevated cameras positioned at Sidetrack Chicago, a beloved North Halsted Street institution that has proudly served the LGBTQIA+ community for over four decades.
