Chattanooga’s only home designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright is going up for sale.
Known as the Seamour Shavin house, it is Tennessee’s only residence designed by the noted architect.
Sitting atop Missionary Ridge, the home is on the market for $1.6 million through Alliance Sotheby’s International Realty.
The home is built of native Tennessee Crab Orchard stone and Louisiana cypress, and embraces Wright’s “celebrated Usonian philosophy, seamlessly blending architecture, nature, and timeless design.”
Built in 1951, the home has stayed in the family for more than 75 years. It’s a 3-bedroom, 2-full bathrooms and 2 partial bathrooms home sitting on 0.89 acres and occupying 1,784 square feet.
Wright is perhaps America’s most famous architect, and designed such buidlings as Arizona’ Biltmore Resort, Florida Southern College, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, along with several residences across the country.
Perhaps the most famous of those buildings is his Fallingwater home in Mill Run, PA.
