For the very first time, the Village of Brookfield’s annual Fourth of July Parade will have a designated Quiet Zone.
According to the village’s website, in the first block of the parade, traveling between Garfield Avenue and Jackson Avenue, participants will be asked to refrain from making excessive noise, such as using sirens, horns and loud music.
The parade organizers said they were looking to create a more comfortable experience for all parade attendees, including those with sensitivity to loud sounds.
“We’re excited to introduce this addition as we continue working to make one of Brookfield’s favorite traditions welcoming and accessible for all,” Brookfield’s village government said in a Facebook post.
The parade is set to start Saturday at 10 a.m. from the intersection of Grand Boulevard and Garfield Avenue.
Following the parade at noon, the village will host a “Party in the Park” in the Kiwanis Park bandshell area, with food, drinks and family-friendly activities.
