PHOENIX (KVOA) – Arizona’s Department of Public Safety is launching a new effort to crack down on dangerous driving and save lives.
It’s called Arrive Alive, and the five-year plan uses more patrols, public education and data to find the most dangerous roads in the state. Officials say it’s not about writing more tickets but about changing drivers’ behavior.
“Arizonans are gonna see high visibility enforcement and they’re gonna see us very present throughout the state and their communities bringing public education awareness,” Lt. Col. Daven Byrd for the Arrive Alive Arizona initiative said. “Every opportunity we have to not notify a family, to prevent an outcome through a fatal or serious injury crash is a success. Our long-term goal is to drive those numbers to zero.”
DPS reports Arizona ranks second in the nation in deadly crashes last year.
