Crews are battling a five-alarm fire at a Fort Worth apartment complex on West Rosedale Street on Monday afternoon.
The Fort Worth Fire Department was called to the six-story building in the 1000 block of West Rosedale Street around 3 p.m. for an active fire.
About 150 firefighters are on scene battling the blaze, Fort Worth Fire Public Information Officer Craig Trojacek told media around 4 p.m. Monday. He said the wind and void spaces in the apartment complex have aided the fire in spreading.
Upon arrival, firefighters conducted a mass evacuation and went door to door to make sure no people were inside any of the units.
Trojacek confirmed one civilian was injured but is okay, and one firefighter was checked on scene due to the heat.
“It’s a hot, humid day. Our firefighters are being rotated out to make sure that they’re staying, you know, in a good physical condition to combat this fire,” said Trojacek. “We’ll pull some of those firefighters out that have been inside for quite some period of time, and then we’ll put fresh firefighters back in.”
As of the update from Trojacek at 4 p.m., crews were still working to control the fire.
The CBS News Texas Chopper has been on scene, where more than a dozen firefighters can be seen attacking the fire with multiple hoses on the apartment complex’s roof. Other firefighters can be seen attacking from the side on an engine ladder.
Trojacek says some of the units in the complex will most likely have fire, smoke and water damage.
This is a developing story.
