OPINION — Three major election issues are being fought between the Republican Maricopa County Board of Supervisors and the Republican County Recorder.

Recorder Justin Heap appears to be trying to change voting in Maricopa County by seeking the authority to control ballot drop-off locations, IT systems and his employees removed a ballot scanner from the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center in Phoenix during the vote counting for the Tempe jurisdictional elections.

The Board of Supervisors is not willing to go along with Heap’s power grab. Heap asked the Supreme Court to review the case and rule on it. Board updates and statements regarding the Shared Services Agreement negotiations are found on the Maricopa County Election Duties Dispute page.
