“Moulin Rouge! Salsa Under the Stars: The Otay Ranch Town Center is bringing back its Salsa Under the Stars event this summer and early fall. Starting Tuesday, the Manny Cepeda Orchestra quartet will be performing salsa music and all ages are invited to attend. San Diego County Fair: This year’s fair theme is, “Summer Pet-tacular,” and visitors can expect a pet parade and interactive pet-themed props. Guests can also expect to hear concerts, ride amusement park rides, play carnival-type games, win prizes and see farm animals. There are also various special events during the fair such as pig races, LGBTQ+ day and a reggae festival. Toyota Summer Concert Series on the Corona Grandstand Stage: The concert series ramps up during the first weekend of the fair with performances by Quinn XCII and Chelsea Cutler on Wednesday, Yeah Yeah Yeahs on Thursday and Jon Pardi on Friday. Shakira: International award-winning superstar Shakira is bringing her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” world tour to Snapdragon Stadium. The Colombian artist released her latest album in 2024, which features the singles “Te Felicito,” “Monotonía” and “Punteria.” The album won a 2025 Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. 7:30 p.m. June 26. Friday

San Diego Symphony kicks off summer season: Tonight, the San Diego Symphony kicks off its outdoor season at the Rady Shell. Music Director Rafael Payare will conduct works by Ginastera, Dukas and Debussy, and trumpet player Paul Merkelo will perform Wynton Marsalis’ Trumpet Concerto. 7:30 p.m. Friday. Star of India sleepover: For $100 per person, guests can sleep overnight on the iconic Star of India ship this summer. The event is tailored to families and groups. Each crew will engage in activities such as raising the sails, moving cargo and exploring areas of the 1863 ship that are normally shut off to the public. The sleepover experience also includes dinner and breakfast. Sleeping arrangements will be in the ship’s storage and cargo area to recreate 19th-century accommodations. All ages are welcome for this event, which occurs three times this summer. Youth under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult. Downtown Skate: San Diegans can grab their skates and head to the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina for some summertime skating at Downtown Skate. This activation event overlooks the San Diego Bay and features 6,000 square feet of rink. There are 90-minute paid time slots for skaters. Also, Cali Cream will sell ice cream and debut a limited-edition flavor. Plus, there will be live DJs. Noon to 8:30 p.m. Friday through July 9. Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, 333 W.
