If you’re looking to shed some pounds, you’ve likely heard of Ozempic and other weight loss drugs like Wegovy. The GLP-1 drugs have become one of the hottest topics in Hollywood as several A-listers have revealed they are using the medications. The medications are said to increase feelings of fullness and reduce appetites.
Lizzo and Amanda Bynes are among the latest stars to admit to using Ozempic for their weight loss journey. The prescription drug was originally intended to help treat type 2 diabetes, but captured mainstream attention for the off-label use of promoting weight loss.
Lizzo
Lizzo is an open book about her “weight release journey,” including how her secret to trimming down involved Ozempic, but it was also a diet change and excercise. She lost 16 percent body fat since starting her journey in January 2024.
“I tried everything,” the ‘Truth Hurts’ singer revealed on the ‘Just Trish’ podcast on June 19. “Ozempic works because you eat less food, yeah? So if you eat right, it makes you feel full. But if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it’s the same item.”
Meghan Trainor
Meghan Trainer called out fans who were quick to point out her weight loss after she won the Hitmaker award at the recent Billboard Women in Music event in March 2025. The 31-year-old singer put an end to the speculation on how she slimmed down, saying on Instagram she’s “been on a journey to be the healthiest, strongest version of myself for my kids and for me.”
“I’ve worked with a dietician, made huge lifestyle changes, started exercising with a trainer, and yes, I used science and support (shoutout to Mounjaro!) to help me after my 2nd pregnancy. And I’m so glad I did because I feel great.”
James Corden
During the Sept. 19 episode of his ‘This Life of Mine’ podcast, James Corden revealed the injection medication didn’t deliver great results for him.
“I tried Ozempic, and it won’t be surprising to you when you look at me now, that it didn’t really work,” Corden said. “I tried it for a bit, and then I realized I was like, ‘Oh no, nothing about my eating has anything to do with being hungry.’ All this does is make you feel not hungry.”
Oprah Winfrey
“I eat my last meal at 4 o’clock, drink a gallon of water a day, and use the WeightWatchers principles of counting points,” Oprah Winfrey told People in December 2023. I had an awareness of [weight-loss] medications, but felt I had to prove I had the willpower to do it. I now no longer feel that way.”
“I now use [an unnamed weight loss drug] as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing. The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for. I’m absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself.”
Kelly Clarkson
At her heaviest, Kelly Clarkson says she was 203lbs standing at 5-ft.3-in. While discussing Whoopi Goldberg’s weight loss on an episode of ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’, the talk show host revealed she used a medication — but not Ozempic.
“Mine is a different one than people assume, but I ended up having to do that too because my bloodwork got so bad,” Clarkson admitted. “My doctor chased me for two years, and I was like, ‘No, I’m afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems. Everybody thinks it’s Ozempic, but it’s not. It’s something else.”
Whoopi Goldberg
Not only did Whoopi Goldberg get candid about dropping a couple of dress sizes on Kelly Clarkson’s talk show, but she revealed exactly what she used on an episode of ‘The View.’
“I will tell you, I weighed almost 300 lbs. when I made [2022 film] ‘Till.’ I had taken all those steroids, I was on all this stuff, and one of the things that’s helped me drop the weight was the Mounjaro. That’s what I used.”
Amy Schumer
Amy Schumer admits she tried Mounjaro because of the hype, but experienced side effects that made her discontinue use. Before that, she’d also tried Wegovy, which she said she couldn’t “handle.”
“I was one of the people that felt like sick, I couldn’t like play with my son,” Amy Schumer told Andy Cohen on ‘Watch What Happens Live” in an episode that aired on June 8. She added she was “so skinny” but felt so ill that she couldn’t throw a ball with her son. She dished on all the details on Instagram, telling her followers exactly which weight loss drugs she used.
Sharon Osbourne
“You can’t stay on it forever. I lost 42 pounds now and it’s just enough,” she told PEOPLE.
On an episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, Sharon opened up about her previous use of the drug, and added, “I didn’t want to go this thin. It just happened.”
Fat Joe
Rapper Fat Joe, 54, says he eats healthier, “cut carbs” and uses Ozempic to maintain his 200-lb weight loss, according to US Weekly.
“Ozempic says you may only have two pieces of your favorite stuff.”
Chelsea Handler
Chelsea Handler didn’t realize she had been prescribed the weight-loss drug. During a January 2023 appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Chelsea Handler said that her anti-aging doctor “just hands (Ozempic) out to anybody.”
“I didn’t even know I was on it. She said, ‘If you ever want to drop 5 pounds, this is good,’” Handler recalled.
Handler went to lunch with a girlfriend who said she was “nauseous” due to being on Ozempic and the comedian said she felt queasy too but chalked it up to being jet-lagged after returning from a trip to Spain.
“I’m an irresponsible drug user, but I’m not gonna take a diabetic drug,” she said. “I tried it, and I’m not going to do that. That’s not for me. That’s not right for me.”
