What to Know
- A FIRST ALERT is in effect for the Philadelphia region from 12 p.m. through 9 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, due to dangerous heat and severe storms.
- An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for Philadelphia, the surrounding suburbs, and parts of South Jersey and Delaware until 9 p.m. Friday. A Heat Advisory is also in effect for Delaware and South Jersey until 9 p.m. Friday.
- The heat and humidity will build through Friday morning with temperatures soaring to record levels Friday afternoon with a high of 97°, which would tie the record from 2016. The humidity will make temperatures feel like 103° to 107° by Friday afternoon.
- Spotty showers and thunderstorms are possible early Friday afternoon but the main concern comes later as strong to severe storms move into the area and continue through Friday evening.
- The storms will bring damaging wind and heavy downpours that may lead to localized flooding.
- Conditions will be better on Saturday with partly cloudy skies and while it will still be humid, it will be more manageable with a high of 89°. Showers and storms return on Sunday with a high of 85° while temperatures will be in the 90s next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
