The Empire State Building was lit up light blue shortly after the “Wood” singer and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end officially tied the knot in New York City on Friday night.
The building’s official website confirmed that Friday’s lights featured a “light blue sparkle color” as part of the “Celebration of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding at Madison Square Garden.”
The official X account for the skyscraper teased that the building would commemorate Swift and Kelce’s nuptials on Friday night.
“Her something blue 🩵,” the post said alongside a video of the building being illuminated by light blue lights.

The Empire State Building frequently switches up its lighting scheme to commemorate special events throughout the year. On July 4 and July 5, the skyscraper will feature red, white, and blue lighting to celebrate Independence Day. The building has also deployed the same color scheme over the last few weeks on days when the United States’ team has played in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Completed in 1931, the Empire State Building first installed special colored lights in 1976 to commemorate the United States’ 200th anniversary. The building began using other colored lights for special events in 1977, and upgraded to an elaborate LED lighting system that can display over 16 million colors in 2012.
Though it may sound like an expensive endeavor, partnering with the Empire State Building for an evening of custom light colors is actually completely free, according to the building’s website. Anyone can apply to customize the building’s lights for a special occasion via a form on the skyscraper’s website.
Swift and Kelce gathered between 500 and 999 of their closest friends in Madison Square Garden on Friday. A sign announced that the couple was “JUST&T MARRIED” around 7:30 p.m. ET. (“T&T”, of course, is a reference to Swift and Kelce’s first initials.)

Swift grew up in Pennsylvania and relocated to the Nashville area when she launched her country career as a teenager. She moved to New York in early 2014, and commemorated her new home in “Welcome to New York,” the opening track of her pop crossover album 1989 later that year.
