One year after the Dragon Bravo Fire, scars remain across the Grand Canyon’s North Rim and the people who call it home. The Dragon Bravo Fire sparked by lightning last Fourth of July and eventually burned more than 145,000 acres in and around the Grand Canyon’s North Rim. The fire destroyed or severely damaged more than 100 buildings, including the iconic Grand Canyon Lodge. For nearby business owners and longtime Grand Canyon advocates, the loss is still deeply personal. As the National Park Service works to restore the land and rebuild, emotional and visible scars remain.
