LA Metro has confirmed that its A Line light rail service will extend to Pomona from 19 September 2025.
This addition will serve four new stations in the San Gabriel Valley, improving public transport links to key destinations including schools, parks, and cultural centres.

The extension includes new stops in Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne/Fairplex, and Pomona North, marking a new phase of eastward expansion from the existing terminus at APU/Citrus College. This provides wider access to Metro’s 100-kilometre A Line, which runs between Pomona and Long Beach via Pasadena, downtown Los Angeles, and South Los Angeles.
The extension aims to support more sustainable and accessible travel options across the region by offering direct, frequent light rail services to communities in the eastern San Gabriel Valley. The project also offers intermodal connections with local bus services and the Metrolink network.
New Stations
Glendora: Positioned near foothill communities and local shops, this stop will be served by Foothill Transit Line 284.
San Dimas: Offers convenient access to neighbourhoods, schools, and parkland, with connections to Foothill Transit Lines 295 and 492.
La Verne/Fairplex: Provides links to the University of La Verne and the LA County Fairgrounds.
Pomona North: Serves as a key transfer point to the Metrolink San Bernardino Line and Foothill Transit Lines 291 and 492. It also offers access to the Pomona Arts District.
Metro will run trains every 8 minutes during peak periods, with daily operations from 4 am until midnight. Travel will be available at standard Metro fare levels, starting at 1.75 USD. The fare structure includes free or discounted travel options for eligible K–12 students, college students, older adults, and low-income riders.
By reducing reliance on private vehicles, the extension is intended to ease congestion and offer a more predictable commute. It is part of a broader investment in sustainable transport infrastructure in Los Angeles County.
