The Los Angeles Police Department graduates a new recruit class Friday.

Los Angles police Chief Jim McDonnell, representatives from the mayor’s office, members of the Board of Police Commissioners and the police department’s command staff were due to attend a ceremony at the police academy near Elysian Park, where 29 recruits will become sworn LAPD officers.

The graduating class, which includes another three Los Angeles Airport Police officers, is made up of 23 men and six women, all of whom completed more than 900 hours of training over the course of weeks.

Twenty-four of the 29 LAPD graduates are Hispanic and one is Asian.
