It all happened on Tuesday, June 23 on the far West Side. Deputies were called to the 8400 block of Knapp Rise, near Ranch View and Culebra Road on report of a man walking around a neighborhood wielding small swords.

According to BCSO, deputies Steven Calva, Frank Diaz and Jason Garces showed up and engaged Danh Thanh Dinh, who ended up shot when he failed to stop advancing toward law enforcement with the weapons.

Dinh was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, and he has since been booked into the Bexar County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant, according to court records.

The deputies were placed on administrative leave while multiple investigations continue.
