PERU, N.Y. (WCAX) – A car and garage went up in flames in Peru, New York, Wednesday afternoon, with smoke from the blaze visible over the Northway.
First responders say they were called to a home at 424 Lapham Mills Road around 1 p.m. for reports of a vehicle fire. They say it quickly spread to the house’s garage, taking about 45 minutes to put out.
“It started with the car, and he’s not exactly sure what happened. He smelled something, and then it snowballed from there,” said Peru Assistant Fire Chief Andrew McLaughlin.
Fire officials say no one was hurt. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
