Bexar County Sheriff’s Office – Sheriff Javier Salazar on body found (July 9, 2026)
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is trying to figure out why a man was found dead on the Far East Side on Wednesday.
Sheriff Javier Salazar says it is unclear if the man was murdered, or if he died of natural causes.
The body was found by a man working utilities in the 12000 block of East Loop 1604. The man’s identity and age are not yet known, and Salazar says the body was in an advanced stage of decomposition.
Last week, BCSO was notified by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol that a body may have been dumped in the same area, but after a search nothing was found.
Investigators are not ruling out the possibility the man may have been part of a human smuggling operation, although this has not been confirmed.
