  • July 10, 2026

BLACK CANYON CITY, AZ (AZFamily) — A driver was hurt Friday morning after the cab of his semi-truck caught fire north of the Valley.

The fire broke out in a truck that was heading northbound on Interstate 17 near Sunset Point, north of Black Canyon City. It’s unclear how the fire started, but the Arizona Department of Public Safety says the driver suffered minor burn injuries.

The flames were extinguished within a few minutes of firefighters’ arrival.

As of 10 a.m., the northbound mainline lanes of I-17 are closed. ADOT says drivers should use the northbound flex lanes to avoid the scene.
