Video shows Phoenix officers saving kids from hot car near Sky Harbor

  • July 26, 2025

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Police released body-cam video showing officers rescuing four children from a hot car near Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport on Thursday.

The video released Friday shows officers going to a business parking lot near 24th Street and Madison Street, which is south of Washington Street. Kids were seen inside a car that wasn’t running around 3:30 p.m. with the windows also rolled up.

The video shows three kids in the back seat, including one in a child seat, and another in the front seat. Officers opened the doors to get access to the kids. “Where’s mom or dad?” asked one officer. “Do you know where your guys’ family is?” asked another. “Nope,” one child replied.

The four victims were given water and put in a police SUV that had running air conditioning to cool them down. “Water feel good?” asked a female officer.

Thursday’s high temperature for Phoenix was 106 degrees, which is normal for this time of year. However, police said the inside of the car was 125 degrees and each child’s temperature was near 100 degrees.

The four kids were taken to the hospital to make sure they were OK. All are expected to be fine.

Police believe the kids had been in the car for nearly an hour.

The children’s father, 38-year-old Ascencio Largo, was found inside a nearby business. He was arrested and booked into jail on child abuse charges. His bond was set at $5,000.
