The Boilermaker Road Race was held Sunday in Utica.
Thousands of runners took part in the 5K and 15K runs and the wheelchair 15K, along with the famous after party.
Alex Matata won the men’s 15K with a time of 42:24. Tsigie Gebreselama finished with the top time in the women’s 15K with a 47:29 showing.
Thomas Rivier came out on top in the men’s 5K in 16:19, while in 18:05, Dorcas Huang won the 5K women’s champion.
Joshua Cassidy won the men’s wheelchair 15K in 33:24. Hoda Elshorbagy, in 41:51, won the women’s wheelchair 15K.
The winners of last year’s 15K on both the men’s and women’s sides did not compete this weekend.
In 1978, the Boilermaker began as a 15K road race with 876 runners, created to celebrate founding sponsor Utica Boilers’ 50th anniversary. Now, it is a weeklong event drawing over 20,000 community members.
