BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KCTV) – Boone County firefighters swam a stranded fawn to safety after fishermen spotted the young deer struggling in a lake.
The Boone County Fire Protection District said it responded to the scene near W. Route K and Arrowhead Lake Dr. on Saturday, July 11.
Crews noted that the fishermen called for help as soon as they spotted the young deer struggling to stay afloat.

When firefighters arrived, they said they found the exhausted fawn still in the water. Its mother watched anxiously from the shoreline.
Firefighters said they entered the water and swam the fawn back to shore. Once on dry land, the fawn was reunited with its mother before the pair disappeared back into the nearby woods.
