Service on the Chicago Transit Authority’s Yellow Line resumed after a vehicle collision temporarily halted rail service, the agency announced.
Officials said that a non-agency vehicle “improperly” entered the tracks at a grade crossing shortly after 1 p.m. at a Skokie location. Train service was suspended at 1:08 p.m., according to an alert on the CTA’s website.
A CTA official said Skokie Fire and police responded to the incident and referred all questions to those agencies. Skokie officials did not immediately return requests for comment.
The CTA’s website stated that shuttle buses had been requested from north suburban Skokie to Howard Station in Rogers Park to provide connecting service through the affected area.
The CTA urged commuters to allow for extra travel time.
