PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is fighting for his life after he was nearly thrown from his vehicle onto an east Phoenix freeway Wednesday morning.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, three vehicles collided on the westbound lanes of the Loop 202 Red Mountain near 32nd Street around 9 a.m. Investigators say the at-fault driver was partially ejected through his front windshield.
Emergency crews arrived and rushed the man to the hospital with serious injuries. Troopers say the other two drivers involved were not hurt.
The crash briefly stopped traffic as troopers and emergency crews worked to move all the vehicles to the shoulder. Traffic cameras showed debris scattered across the freeway. A white sedan also sustained heavy damage to its front hood and trunk.
Troopers are continuing to piece together what led up to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
