For the foreseeable forecast period, the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office is predicting temperatures in North Texas will climb as rain chances disappear.
Saturday’s high is predicted to be 96 degrees, according to the weather service, with a low of 76. The heat index, or “feels like” temperature, could hit 101.
Lingering cloud coverage from the storm system is expected to prevent temperatures from becoming extreme over the weekend, according to the weather service.
Moderate humidity and a slight breeze with wind gusts up to 18 miles per hour will accompany Saturday’s warmer weather and continue through the rest of the forecast period.
On Sunday, temperatures are expected to climb to 98 degrees, with a heat index of 104.
Triple-digit heat is expected to return to the region as soon as Monday, according to the weather service.
Looking ahead, work week temperatures could rise enough to warrant a heat advisory with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday’s heat indexes are all currently predicted to exceed 105.
In extreme heat, the CDC recommends drinking water, seeking shade when possible, applying sunscreen, wearing a hat and knowing the symptoms of dehydration and heat exhaustion.
