Two 77-year-old McKinney residents died Friday evening after a silver Hyundai and an orange BMW collided at Custer Road and Bedford Road, police said.

McKinney police responded at approximately 6:26 p.m. July 17 and announced the deaths Saturday. Officers documented the investigation under case number 26-005614.

Police identified the Hyundai’s driver and passenger as Sandra Lee Lazarus and William Lavich Lazarus, both 77. Emergency personnel pronounced both McKinney residents dead at the scene.

BMW driver and passengers hospitalized

Police identified the BMW driver as James Armont, 51. Armont and the vehicle’s passengers went to a local hospital with injuries that police described as non-life-threatening.

McKinney police had not publicly announced an arrest or charges as of 5:02 p.m. Saturday. The department’s latest release said investigators continued examining the collision.

Police have not publicly described how the vehicles collided, identified which vehicle had the right of way or said whether speed, impairment or distraction contributed to the crash. The department also did not disclose how many passengers were inside the BMW.

In April, a vehicle struck and killed Paralympic cyclist Dory Selinger in a separate McKinney crash near Alma Drive and State Highway 121, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
