Jury selection begins for man accused of killing daughter in Northern NY

ELIZABETHTOWN, N.Y. (WCAX) – Jury selection began Monday for a man charged with killing his 9-year-old daughter while on vacation in the Adirondacks.

Luciano Frattolin reported his daughter, Melina, missing near Lake George last summer, later saying she was kidnapped.

Inconsistencies in his story led investigators to look into him.

Court documents say they found Melina strangled and hidden in a pond off a state highway.

Luciano Frattolin is charged with murder.

Jury selection started Monday in Essex County Court in Elizabethtown, New York.

Opening statements in his trial are expected to begin later this week.
