JACKSONVILLE, Ore. – The Jacksonville Community Center is hosting a free concert tomorrow.
Located on East Main Street in Jacksonville, the concert will feature local musician Nick Garrett-Powell.
Powell is known throughout southern Oregon as a soloist and as a member of various bands, including the Fret Drifters and Nick and Shae.
Tomorrow, Powell will perform original songs and his set will focus on looping, a tool that allows artists to layer music live. Attendees will have the opportunity to see Powell build his set from the ground up before their eyes.
He also specializes in playing the guitar and is a recording engineer, having worked with many artists and their records over the years.
Powell says the music scene in Oregon is tight-knit and has formed its own unique sound.
“There’s actually so much talent all through southern Oregon and so many great people to work with. We’re just kind of overflowing with qualified artists,” said Powell.
Additionally, he said any chance of performing is a way of showcasing the talent Oregon has to offer that others be unaware of.
The concert is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. Walk ins are welcome but guests can also pre-register here.
