Police said another person had been taken into custody.

“This is a contained incident and there are no ongoing concerns for public safety,” a police spokesperson said.

Traffic in the area is at a standstill, with Albany Highway closed north of the Westfield Carousel shopping centre.

The crime scene sits in a largely commercial area of the suburb, with businesses lining either side of the street.

Workers from nearby stores told the ABC they had spoken with authorities, with police attending businesses in search of CCTV footage of the incident.
