THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — Feeling groovy? Dress up like a 1960s hippie for a “Flower Power” celebration at the New York Botanical Garden.
A dress‑up contest will be held, with judges selecting the grooviest looks across several categories including:

Best Impersonator
(Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Beatles, etc.)
The first 100 visitors who arrive in costume will receive seed packets from Hudson Valley Seed Co.
The event was created to celebrate the symbolism of flowers as expressions of peace and love.
It will feature live music, friendship‑bracelet making, and will be held rain or shine Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
Guests in 1960s‑inspired attire will also get a 20% discount voucher at the NYBG Shop.
The Garden will be transformed with immersive, vibrant flower displays evoking hippie culture, aiming to inspire deeper connections with the natural world.

Organizers said NYBG’s galleries will showcase photography and visual art from the 1960s, while installations across the grounds invite visitors to “come together” and embrace flowers as symbols in their own lives.
Visitors must purchase an All‑Garden Pass to enter. Tickets for Saturday’s exhibition start at $39 for adults, $35 for seniors and visitors with a valid student ID, $17 for children ages 2–12, and children under 2 can enter for free. To buy tickets to the Flower Power party, click here.
