This weekend, community organizations along the city’s shorelines are coming together for the annual Jamaica Bay Festival.
The event offers dozens of free activities, highlighting the wildlife and recreational opportunities around Jamaica Bay, which is home to more than 500 different species of animals and is one of the most ecologically significant natural areas in the region.
Terri Carta, the executive director of the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy, joined “The Rush Hour” on Thursday to preview the event.
