1. Trump administration’s transit priorities include renaming Penn Station

President Donald Trump’s top transit official released a list of priorities he says reflect the administration’s “vision for a bold transportation future” — including ideas for railroad and highway upgrades — and topping that list includes “renaming” Penn Station.

Trump has floated a desire to rename the iconic rail hub after him in the past, although it doesn’t say who or what its new name should be in the new proposal penned by Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy to senior members of Congress Wednesday.

2. Advocates rally against homeless encampment sweeps

Homeless New Yorkers and advocates say clearing encampments often only moves people instead of helping them.

That debate was playing out along the busy West Side Highway, where a small encampment sits across from the Intrepid. The city says outreach now happens for seven days before a noticed encampment is cleared.

More than 100 healthcare professionals and organizations also signed a letter to the administration arguing sweeps can disrupt care and scatter support systems people rely on.

3. NYPD: 2 people stabbed on Upper West Side in incidents being evaluated as possible hate crimes

Two people were stabbed in separate attacks on the Upper West Side yesterday in incidents that are being evaluated as possible hate crimes, according to authorities.

Police said the stabbings happened around 1:30 p.m. at West 84th and West 86th streets near Central Park West.
