JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) – The Tennessee Task Force One Urban Search and Rescue has relocated from Cotulla, Texas, to San Antonio to continue flooding relief efforts.
Volunteer firefighters from 10 different fire departments, including the Jackson Fire Department and the Milan Fire Department, were activated to support emergency efforts in Texas after significant rainfall that caused life-threatening flash flooding.
The team was deployed to Cotulla, Texas, where they have been stationed since July 16. On Thursday, they were relocated to San Antonio to offer aid.
“We are expecting to be demobilized today,” said Johnny Lock, fire chief at Milan Fire Department.
If the team is demobilized today, they will begin their trip back to Tennessee. According to Lock, this will likely take two days. TN-TF1 is expected to return to the USAR Warehouse on Saturday evening.
